When Jeanie’s husband stepped off the curb in front of a bus, Jeanie was relieved. Maybe now the press, the police and everyone else would stop looking at her like she was a monster, too. Her husband had been acquitted of the heinous crime of kidnapping two year old Bella. But they still believed he was a monster. Jeanie’s relief was short lived, however, as the press continued to hound her. A tenacious newspaper reporter, Kate, wants the story. Detective Sparks needs closure before the crime haunts him to his own grave. And Jeanie really wants to shed her good wife role and finally tell the truth about Glen’s nonsense. This haunting mystery, set in Great Britain and written in the style of “The Girl on the Train” and “Gone Girl”, is sure to capture the attention of mystery readers, especially those familiar with secrets between spouses.
Moonlight Over Paris by Jennifer Robson
reviewed by Chris Sillin
It's Paris in its finest decade of budding artists in bloom, writers developing their latest novels, and young hearts searching for a place in this world. Lady Helena Montague-Douglas-Parr leaves London in 1924 to seek refuge at her aunt's villa in Paris to regain her strength after a near fatal illness and disappointing failed engagement. Helena's eccentric Aunt Agnes thrusts her forward into art school to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Agnes, in her wisdom, nurtures the quiet and docile Helena and her tightly knit group of artist friends. She introduces Helena to the Lost Generation and its circle of American expatriates, in particular Sam Howard, an American journalist. Helena discovers her passion for art isn't the only love in her life. She tempts fate with a new love and a new country to heal her fraility and broken heart.
